Gestalt coaching or Gestalt therapy? Ethical and professional considerations on entering the emotional world of the client

The video shows the Keynote address given at the Academy of Executive Coaching (AoEC) conference, London, September 2009. It addresses the issue of whether there is a place for therapy within coaching; how to recognise the boundary between coaching and therapy; dealing with strong emotions within a coaching session; dealing with childhood influences; re-grounding a client in the present; and the importance of supervision. The slides used are shown below.

The presentation is based on the article Gestalt coaching or Gestalt therapy? published in the International Gestalt Journal, 2009.

The Keynote Address follows the conference introduction (at 01:30).
